What is the company´s history like?
Český národní podnik, s.r.o. is a Czech company established in 1991. It is engaged in development and production of original spa cosmetics and its distribution to wholesale partners in the Czech republic and abroad. It operates its own retail network of branded shops of MANUFAKTURA where the cosmetics is sold along with Czech folk craft and wooden toys. The project of Manufaktura cosmetics arose firstly with the aim to create own concept of quality Czech gift cosmetics inspired by nature. Retail experience lasting several years was made good use of. The first phase - production of fresh soap with herbal, fruit and spice ingredients - started in 1999.
Thanks to its success and customers´ demand for other products, soap was gradually and systematically supplemented with new sorts of cosmetics since 2001- shower gel, bath foam, oil bath, liquid soap, etc. In 2005, the cosmetic range of Spa Tradition Carlsbad emerged, inspired by tradition and history of this famous spa town, based on usage of high quality vegetable extracts and precious natural resources from the world famous Czech spa - first of all thermal salt, peat, herbs, kaolin... Since then, new ranges inspired by original natural ingredients have been gradually launched - beer range with beer, hop and brewer´s yeast, wine range with wine, grapevine and grape oil, sea range with Dead Sea salt and mud

Are Manufaktura products really natural, what do they contain?
Cosmetics is produced from material on the basis of vegetable oils (palm, coconut, olive oil)... Common consumable soap is produced on the basis of animal fats nowadays... Our products are enriched with dried parts and herbal extracts, thermal salt, peat, kaolin, precious oils (shea butter, grape oil, bee wax, jojoba, almond, mango and cocoa butter...), corn extracts and vitamines. Due to the content of natural material we must preserve our products - to ensure longlasting quality and stability. We make an effort to select the least harmful preservatives which comply with the strictest world norms and we use them in the least possible measure.
What is used in peeling?
Ground almond nutshells, natural sugar and salt are often used as peeling. Dried parts of herbs contained in soap - lavender,sweet balm, rose... - have delicate effect as well.
Are products tested, are they healthful ?
At selection of particular material used for production, stress is put on complying with strict European and American norms. All products are thoroughly tested in an internationally certificated laboratory, official protocols evaluating their healthfulness for man, are available. No product is tested on animals.
What dye is used at production ?
At production, we use synthetic dyes attested for usage in Europe, the US and in Japan, they has the strictest norms. Natural dyes are not used in cosmetics for their small stability - particularly quick fading and loss of colours.
What is the difference between Carlsbad salt and Dead Sea salt ?
Carlsbad salt is got from Carlsbad mineral springs that belong among the most efficient mineral waters in the world. Dead Sea salt is extracted from the Dead Sea in Jordan. Both salts have different chemical composition - various minerals in various concentration are present. Generally, bath in salt and hot water supports relaxation, stimulates metabolism, softens skin, promotes blood circulation in the whole organism and assists in calming the nerve system. Dead Sea salt is, moreover, suitable for customers suffering from skin diseases - eczema, psoriasis, acne, etc.
Which products are suitable for allergic persons, which are non-allergic ?
There are many kind of allergies and allergens, and allergic reactions are very individual. Paradoxically, the biggest allergens are natural components in cosmetics - herbs, etc. Consultation with a doctor is the best solution in any case. The range of Dead Sea cosmetics is the most suitable for people with sensitive skin and skin problems -it does not contain any dye, is scented with non-allergic perfume and contains precious minerals from the Dead Sea.
Is body butter suitable even for face ?
Body butter is not recommended for face much - it is too greasy, contains more perfume than face creams.
Could our soap be used even for washing face or is it good only for hands and body ?
Generally, soap is not recommended for washing face because face skin is different from hand skin, thus it needs different care.
May the salt with herbs plug sink?
We have not noticed such a case, however, just in case, we recommend customers to use a sieve when draining the bath. In our assortment, currently we offer beautiful canvas bags with MANUFAKTURA logo which are used for leaching herbal salts / teas in a bath.
How much salt to bath, how much foam...
We recommend 100g of salt for one bath, and "proportionate amount" of foam and oil bath - usually, approximately 25-30ml for a bath.
Are products tested on animals?
Certainly not.
We are the first in the Czech republic to have received the only internationally recognized certificate of not testing on animals - HCS (Human Cosmetics Standard) - brands like L´Occitane,The Body Shop, Marks and Spencer, ... use this certificate as well.
Is body cosmetics moisturizing?
Yes, body butter contains shea butter and grape oil, which have substantial moisturizing quality.
Does beer cosmetics really contain beer?
Yes, beer cosmetics = beer shampoo, beer bath and beer shower gel really contain beer, even in a considerable percentage. Beer soap and beer mask, where beer could not be added, contain, for a change, brewer´s yeast.
Are creams suitable even for problematic skin?
It depends on a concrete problem the skin has. These creams are not much recommended for skin suffering from acne - it contains a high proportion of shea butter and grape oil, thus they are greasy and suitable for normal and dry skin. Creams should be convenient for people with sensitive skin.
May pregnant women use bath salt?
At this question, we recommend consultation with a doctor again. Some doctors generally do not recommend hot bath for pregnant women at all.
Do you have any products for sauna?
Shower peeling is suitable, it cleanses skin perfectly before sauna. You can use SALUS aromatic oils for sauna /steam, we sell them in our shops, as well. Different scratching tools and massage gloves are good help. After sauna, we recommend application of body butter.
